4. An ostrich’s eye is bigger than its brain.
5. Tigers have striped skin, not just striped fur.
6. Donald Duck’s middle name is Fauntleroy.
7. Like fingerprints, everyone’s tongue print is different.
8. The mask used by Michael Meyers in the original Halloween was really Capt. Kirk’s mask painted white.
9. The characters Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street were named after Bert the cop and Ernie the taxi driver in Frank Capra’s “Its A Wonderful Life”.
10. A baby octopus is the size of a flea at birth.
11. The name for Oz in the “Wizard of Oz” was thought up when the creator, Frank Baum, looked at his filing cabinet and saw A-N, and O-Z, hence “Oz.”

  2. The Figthing Artichokes is a for real mascot at Scottsdale Community College. I would hate to see Veg on Veg battle when they meet up with The Fighting Okra from Delta State University.

  3. Interesting! Did you know that Steinbeck wrote screenplays that had nothing to do with his books. One of his scripts was used for Alfred Hitchcocks movie.

  7. Louisa May Alcott's (Jo, in little women) sister Elisabeth (Beth, in Little Women) never lived in Orchard house. She died shortly before the family moved in. Though Louisa wrote her into the story as living in Orchard house.

    Here's another: The term "leatherneck" -- used for U.S. Marine Corps troops -- originated from the leather band around the neck of old-time uniforms. The leather was to partly protect from sword cuts and sabre slashes.
