Black Friday

Okay...Dish! Did you go black Friday shopping? (which includes Thursday into Friday!)

Not me!
I was curled up on the couch watching old Christmas movies.

Preparing!

UPDATE: Brooke Bumgardner you are the winner of It's a Family Tradition. Please email me and let me know which Christmas ebook you would like!

I'm hosting Thanksgiving for my family this year. By family, I mean my family, my parents, my husband's parents, my sister's family, my brother in law's family, and some strays....

When I took on the challenge, I was pretty excited since this is only our second Thanksgiving in the new house, but the first time I have hosted in this house.

Then. . .the requests started to come. I'm allergic to nuts. I'm allergic to gluten. I'm diabetic. I'm vegan. . .

Man, oh, man....

Oh well. . .I'm just happy to be with family!

Please remember I'm still collecting coloring books for Alyssa's Coloring For the Cause.

Alyssa is the daughter of a friend of mine. When she was younger, she was in the hospital over Christmas and noticed the children didn't have their own coloring books. She asked Santa to bring each of them a coloring book, then decided she'd collect them. Every year her donation to Children's Hospital has grown.
If you want to donate, please mail them to me by December 15th.

It's A Family Tradition Giveaway

My guys can tell you that I'm huge on tradition and keeping them going every year. I have always wondered the impact that it has has on my boys. If they get it? If tradition is important to them? After all, they are boys!
Every Thanksgiving we build our gingerbread houses.

This year my boys are 17, 17, and 15. I wasn't sure if they were too cool to make the houses. BUT....we went to the grocery for the Thanksgiving feast supplies and they grabbed the gingerbread house kits. I smiled and didn't say a word. I have peace that I have given them the warmth of traditions.
Here is the houses we will be putting together. A Village!

I'll be sure to post a picture!

What traditions have you started? Or been part of?

One lucky comment will receive an ebook of any of my Christmas short stories. If you have them already, I will gift them in your name to anyone you would like!

Winter Wonderland

I know a lot of people got an insane amount of snow over the past few days. We got about four inches and I have to say that I love it.

I love living in Kentucky where we get all the seasons. The beauty of the snowfall really does make joy deep in my heart. I truly love it!

This is a pond at my house. I love how the sky looks and the snow covers the tree. It's so pretty. Plus if it's this cold, I want snow.

Do you like snow?

Leave a comment and I'll send a signed copy of The Ladybug Jinx to a lucky winner!

Happily Ever After

Last week I received an email from a fellow author from my area, Jules Bennett. She asked me if I would give her my story of my HEA (happily ever after) for a blog she was doing along with her friend.

I'm always posting pictures of me and my husband, plus our blended family. I'm sure she's seen all the posts and knew we had a great story that was worth telling.

I was more than happy to give her the HEA. . .my HEA.

I won't bore you here *wink, wink* or make you sick to your stomach with all our sweetness. I'll leave it up to you to go visit the blog and read our story.

Coloring for the Cause

It's that time of the year again

Over the past few years, my friend's daughter has been collecting coloring books and crayons for Cincinnati's Children's Hospital. A few years ago she was in the ER over Christmas and noticed the children in the hospital had few coloring books and they had to share.
She asked Santa to bring each and every patient a coloring book for Christmas and this is where is all began!
Last year she collected over 3000! Please join me again this year by donating coloring books or crayons. Please mail them to me by December 15. OR you can Paypal me and I'll purchase them for you from the Dollar Store so you don't have to pay shipping. If you want to do the Paypal method, contact me through my About Me page and put Coloring Books in the subject line.

Lets give every child at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati a coloring book of their own for Christmas!

Can you guess what I did over the weekend?

1) I went to the bookstore and spent a lot of money on books having to do with Christmas.
2) I put up my Christmas tree and Kitty Kappes already found her way to the top, looking like the tree topper.
3) I'm hosting Thanksgiving for my family this year and I emailed them a side dish they could bring.

Snowplace Like Home

During the months of November and December I find myself buying the feel good Christmas novels. I'm a sucker for a joyful heroine who has to overcome some sort of obstacle in her life to find the spirit of the season and put the joy back in her soul.

Barnes and Noble

A few years ago I had written a short story for a boutique publisher's Christmas anthology. Another Quirky Christmas was a short story prequel to my award winning novel Carpe Bead 'em. Over a year ago, the publisher reverted the rights back to me and the other authors in the anthology.

Another Quirky Christmas has been rewritten and with a new title has become SNOWPLACE LIKE HOME.

If you have already read Carpe Bead 'em, you will love Snowplace Like Home. It doesn't give spoilers to Carpe Bead 'em. It introduces you to the quirky character of Aunt Grace and gives you a little more insight to her relationship with Hallie Mediate.

I hope you enjoy Snowplace Like Home! It's a wonderful feel good, get in the holiday spirit short story.

Enyoy!
